The living room of this Southampton, New York, house is furnished with family heirlooms. "Hardly anything is new," says designer Justine Cushing. If something needed reupholstering, she covered it in a classic chintz, Bowood by Colefax & Fowler. The silver-leaf coffee table belonged to a friend, and she likes it because "it glows." She also likes the ethereal quality of white curtains against white walls, painted in Benjamin Moore Aura in Linen White

The Chippendale mirror over the fireplace and the gilded column, one of a pair flanking the front door, are some of the more attention-getting antiques in the living room. Cushing likes the big paper shade on the floor lamp in a ground-floor bedroom — "It's cheerful, like a balloon." The vintage camera belongs to her brother-in-law, who knows how to use it and often takes pictures at family gatherings.

The bed is dressed in a mix of blue-and-white linens, including flowered and scalloped pillow shams by D. Porthault. Cushing found the vintage quilt at Woodard & Greenstein. The bedside table is actually a wicker laundry basket from Pier 1 Imports. No space is wasted: A cozy armchair from Hampton Interiors is tucked into a sunny alcove.
