We're soaking up the last month of true summer sun, and we're not complaining. Still, we can't fall is just around the corner, and the romance of it all has got us a little distracted from our beach days..
Don't get us wrong, flowy dresses, rattan furniture, and summery colors are wonderful. But there's something magical about autumn. Here's why:
1. It's time to unpack all your cozy throws and quilts.
Each one holds a special place in your heart, and in your home. And as all of us perpetually cold people know, there's nothing quite as satisfying as cuddling up underneath a soft cashmere blanket.
2. We get excited about moody, deep colors again.
Summer is all about the bright hues. So, when fall finally rolls around, the soothing, warm oranges, browns, and reds that come with it can be quite comforting.
3. Layering comes back in a big way.
Whether its blankets on quilts on comforters in your bedroom, or scarves on coats on sweaters on you, layering adds unique texture to a look. Not to mention, it's SO cozy.
4. The fall foliage turns a walk around the block into a fairytale stroll.
We love the changing leaves for two reasons. One, the golden colors are picture-perfect. Seriously, the best for Instagram. Second, it's a sign we can ease up on our gardening. And, for those of us lacking a green thumb, that's quite a relief.
5. You get to pull out all your hearty recipes again.
Autumn is about so much more spiced pumpkin lattes from Starbucks. Swimsuit season is over, so we can finally indulge in our favorite comfort foods — like this pumpkin quinoa chili from A Clean Bake.
6. The fireplace returns as the center of your home.
And if you don't have a hearth, you can at least add pictures of blazing fireplaces to your "Dream Home" Pinterest board.
7. Outdoor entertaining is actually enjoyable.
With fall comes cool breezes and crisp air, which means you can gather outside for an extended period of time without sweating through your t-shirt.
