Everyone's tripped over a rug because it wasn't straightened at least once in their life (or for some, several times a day). Now a designer has taken that common household hazard problem and used it to create a new piece of furniture. Italian architect, Alessandro Isola, has designed a rug that also serves as a sofa. The aptly-named "Stumble Upon Sofa" is a rug that curves to create seating with a carbon fiber core and padding. Isola designed the sofa with the heights and curves varying at different spots, so that at one end there is a more upright seating option and the other end could be used for lounging. Another added bonus? The rug is not only a sofa, but it also has bookshelves and storage.
Isola has created a double-duty rug before, the "Stumble Upon Coffee Table," with a rug serving as a sleek table. According to Business Insider, the design isn't available to the public yet, but Isola is working with makers in Italy to see how much production would cost.
